I had my vacation last summer and I observed the same road situation as before few years ago... and i felt also that election was still in the breeze of Samar and even in the Philippines. Whenever I looked out of the window of the bus, I always saw that hopeless road which was a minute better than a pathway in the rice field.. but the campaign poster on the posts and on the trees gave me a sense of hope that maybe our newly elect, young and hopefully dynamic congressman would be the hope for new roads in the next few years, of course, together with others who are now in the positions.

If the previous administration was not able to do something about it, I hope the current would make a diverse trend. I hope they would make even just a little rise for Samar. I hope that their smile in their campaign posters would be also the vision of serving the populace of Samar. There are a lot of challenges to our new congresswoman.. since she is also new in this arena.. TO MAKE SOMETHING NEW THAT WOULD RISE SAMAR.... COURAGE!! MISS TAN!!! I am also young and I know the heart of a young fellow.. we are dynamic, right??? we are dynamic in doing good!!!

I'm a regular reader of this site. This is my 1st time to print my concerns. I read about the new Congressman of Eastern Samar's consultative meeting among various agencies. This is a good start indeed. Now...how about our new Congresswoman from Samar, may we know what are her visions for Samar? When she entered into this political arena, I assume that she must have good plans and programs for her constituents. May we know what they are, madam? Like Cong. Coquilla whose priority concern is that of rehabilitating the national roads and airport of Eastern Samar, would it be too much to ask to do the same for Samar?

Kun waray nahimo an mga veterans in politics "kuno" like Nachura, Figueroa and even the governor (your mom), come on... show that you are different...that you have the political will to make a difference!! Bisan kay kon sering han iba neophyte ngan batan-on ka pa, ipakita nga dire ito reason para dire maging maupay an imo administration. Sige ... Dear beloved Samarenos'

I'm just amiss and a bit disturd with the ideas of some samarenos that pushing there towns for cityhood, what a waste and insignificant I'm sure most of you are corrupt by city life style syndrome, whats only in mind the accessibility of what a city pampered individual life. Did you think the disadvantages of this? and the effect to the entire ecosystem of the whole island. Becoming a city doesn't mean progress for one town nor can be proud of, it will create a bigger problem, I hope you all aware of this, and anticipate changes that will become an eye opener of individual opportunist, criminals and others with good intention "kono".

As much as I know we exploit already the entire island with illegal activities. Instead why don't we embrace what we have in Samar and protect it and tunr it the otherway around as flagship for the progress of the entire island. Forget cityhood we are not ready for that. Remember this population grow, standard of living up, garbage will be enormous were you gonna dump this to the neighboring town or municipalities, the question is? Is your city officials ready for this challenges? Right now all this big towns are having problem with disposal of there garbage what more if they become a progressive cities. Don't be a fall enjoining that caravan for cityhood movement Samarenos. Be who you are Samarnon its not yet late let your environment works for your progress.

I challenge you igkasi ko Samarenos who have this idea, as much as you love your town of becoming a city we have also responsibility of protecting the island, don't take this for granted be responsible, I use to call once my island (Samar) the last frontier of the Philippines, but what happened we exploit everything especially the coral reefs of the island, are we let this be in books telling the future generation what was Samar the, for I'd rather be identified from the town of, or from the municipality of, with simple needs in life and not polluting the environment, instead from the city with restless mind.

To be a city is a responsibility and a chalenge to the officials and the people, if there is no chalenge a place become stagnant. But now the people of Catbalogan City and Borongan City will have to plan a future city full of hope and development. Samar has the potential to be a good and develope place where people can be a peace loving and respectful people with honor and dignity.

Today that challenge must be meet by the people of Borongan and Catbalogan City, to plan for the future advancement with environmentally sound development, and tourism will flourish, with good hospitals, good business sector, farming, fishing, and maybe plan for parks and zoo, sports development which can generate funds and employment.

With our good mayor tekwa, I respect him that he will mandate to clean the beaches, and must see to it that every school will have rest rooms. And must mandate that every house will have an inspector to check if they have rest room, good water source for drinking and help them or build an affordable apartment for the people of Catbalogan City, a loan that can be paid by resident of the apartments. And other development can come in.

Once it started there will be a lot of positive thing that will happen, with the help of Catbaloganon here and abroad together we can build a city. Contrary to negative view of other non Samarnon people that will lead us to hopelessness and criminality. Today Maqueda bay is one of the biggest supplier of tahong, in the future we will be the factory of seafood products in the world its a matter of time. In Samar we have a potential of Tourism uncomparable to non, we have fishery products that if manage correctly will be exporting to Japan and other part of the world. Our mining if we owned it, the Samarnon we will never go hungry, we have rice granaries that when this city and municipalities will be develop will be comparable to non. I may not see it now, but we have sons and daughters of Samar who are now awakening to be one, for the future of Samar. A new crop of leadership.
