On Rex B. Cool's post
about Ernie Maceda's list, Bolante's testimony before the Senate,
and more
The list is so true. Ernie
Maceda typifies all of the descriptions. He was actually merely
looking at the mirror when he enumerated those qualities of the
current crop (or crap) of politicians. The late Manila Mayor Arsenio
Lacson quipped the lasting cliche about Maceda: "young yet so
corrupt."
Today, Maceda is the
boogeyman of Erap Estrada. In Bacolod, I saw him shadowing Estrada
wherever the convicted felon would go. He would utter warning words
that if the opposition will not unite, Estrada may throw his hat
into the presidential ring again to finally complete his aborted
presidential foray. Maceda have been humiliated when he was trounced
as candidate for Mayor of Manila after he was barred from seeking
another term in the senate. Only in the Philippines would a man who
served as Senate President would still want to be city mayor. Again,
it reflects how power hungry some politicians are and Maceda is a
perfect example. So, Mr. Expose' as he wants everybody to believe
him to be is nothing but sour loser who hopes to have another free
ride to the barn of government goodies. Estrada is bad for the
country. Period. Maceda is period.
I saw over ANC the first
part of the hearing on Bolante's testimony before the Blue Ribbon
Committee headed by Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano and I was so
disappointed with the way it was handled. Here are some scandalous
things that I observed: 1. Sen. Mar Roxas is so fake that you can
almost see his presidential ambition marked on his forehead. He
tries to communicate in Tagalog to appeal to the masa but you could
smell his dead carcass – presidential ambition; 2. Sen. Jinggoy
Estrada is so full of himself that he could not even ask the
pertinent questions. His questions were still anchored on the
downfall of his father's presidency. I wanted to knock his forehead
and say "wake up" Mr. Jinggoy you are acting like an unggoy in the
jungle; and, 3. Joc-joc Bolante is a joke. How can the Philippines
have an undersecretary of agriculture like him? He is nothing but an
embarassment to all filipinos. He definitely was not telling the
truth and he should be thrown to Muntinlupa asap. After Jinggoy's
stupid questioning, I turned off my TV because I could not make
sense about all these things happening in our country. The reason
why Gloria Arroyo is still in power despite her Marcosian sins is
the lack of genuine alternative to the current situation. It's like
a choice between the devil or the deep blue sea. How I wish that
Bolante could be grilled on his anomalous activities more than
injecting the senators' personal agenda. Mark my word that the
investigation will have no effective end because there was no clear
vision for its conclusion but merely how the senators could propound
the questions more for personal show than for digging the truth.
The palace (Malacanang)
immediately issued a statement that it was vindicated by the
testimony of Bolante. How presumptuous for the unworthy little
occupant of Malacanang can say. Flight is an indication of guilt and
the moment Bolante spirited out of the country when the
investigation was still unfolding was the epitome of that legal
assumption. His closeness to the first evilman (first gentleman) as
admitted in the hearing signifies how corrupt the evilman is. I
could dare say that Imelda, though I am not a fan of hers, at least
built the CCP and other infrastructure during her tenure as first
lady. The first gentleman or evilman only built enough
infrastructure for themselves and their minions to hold on to power.
When Arroyo completes her term in 2010, she would be the second
longest serving president of the Philippines next to Ferdinand
Marcos but she could already rival the menace that Marcos brought to
the country.
Marcos, again I am not a
fan of Marcos and I use this only for dramatic comparison, in his
20+ years has pushed the electrification of the countryside, built
the Maharlika Highway, built airports, seaports, schools, and
hospitals we all could see now after he was banished from power 20
years later. Arroyo would go down in history having built the
world's most expensive highway and named it after her late father –
the Diosdado Macapagal Blvd – such an act of disrespect. Even in my
grave, I would cringe with the thought that my child would name a
street or boulevard in my honor that was overpriced and
graft-ridden. It's like offering me a flower on my grave but such
flower was robbed from the flower vendor. Arroyo is even brandishing
that she is a devout catholic, pwe!, by stopping the Reproductive
Health bill to buy the support of the bishops. I'd rather dine with
the devil than dine with somebody claiming to be a christian but
leading an evil life. Marcos at least won elections and tried his
best not to have another election after his second term by declaring
Martial Law to perpetuate himself in power but Gloria orchestrated
the "hello Garci" electoral magic to win the 2004 elections. Poor
Panday (Fernando Poe Jr.) was defeated by a pandak. I am thinking
that GMA is the karma or gaba to the filipino people when they start
to be apathetic about issues concerning them. She is the embodiment
of a curse on the Philippines.
Again, in times like this,
let's just wait for 2010 and see who's gonna show us to get out of
this trouble we are all in. Definitely, Arroyo should go out of the
palace and start her sojourn to the jail the same way Estrada served
a bit of his punishment in confinement. Let us be vigilant because
some of Arroyo's "under the saya" men are peddling another
Constitutional overhaul so the little tyrant can continue to cling
to her power.
I say that it's time for
Estrada and Arroyo to bow out of the scene and bring in new
political faces, not feces, to the public. The bench is shallow for
presidential timbers but for these two feces, Estrada and Arroyo,
they should be flushed to the toilet bowls.
Naga City Mayor Jesse
Robredo, Isabela Governor Grace Padaca, and Pampanga Governor Ed
Panlilio must mushroom to produce more like them.
Again, I wish...

By the way, I always keep
on reading all views and comments in this message board. I opted not
to participate in giving my own view. Now I feel eager to respond
why Mr. Morales doesn't want to join the political spotlight.
What he says is true that
he can be useful as an outsider to check what the insider is doing.
He's like a pundit giving his own assessment and can access
background and important news to inform the public. Like an Eagle
flying above, it can see all the horizon as far as the eyes can see.
To me his job that he wanted is better and he can easily make his
own view interesting to read. Beside his good command of
communication, he's eloquent in choosing the right words. But who
knows if Mr. Morales will change his decision in the future. Let's
give him a free will to choose what feels is okay and comfortable to
him.
Right now, I want that he
should be instrumental in endorsing anybody to run for governor of
Samar. He thinks that Fr. Labendia is a good prospect and I want him
to start the ball rolling. He should come up now of anything that
convince the people that the priest is a good contender as governor.
What accomplishment the priest has done, the place he was born, the
parents, siblings, the schools he studied from elementary to
college, all that should be relevant to divulge about him. Thank you
Mr. Morales for your service to all our kababayan waraynon.

Sometimes, I ask...
Sometimes, I ask my self
why I spend my precious time reading and composing controversial
pieces here in Samarnews.com.
Sometimes, I ask why I am
so engrossed with burning issues in Samar.
Sometimes, I wonder if
these are all exercises in futility.
Sometimes, I lost hope for
Samar.
Today, knowing that
justice sometimes in the Philippines works in favor of what is
right, my heart is leaping with joy that at least the bell is now
starting to ring so the voice of justice how faint it may seem may
one day ring like those mighty bells of Balangiga in Samar's capitol
and in all of its sitios and barrios.
Today, I have an answer to
some of my questions. My reading and composing controversial
articles in the message board are not merely acts of boredom but of
great concern for my native land and I am encouraged by the thought
that more and more concerned Samarnons are sharing their thoughts
about Samar – an act they have not done maybe for a long time.
Today, I can understand
that the burning issues in Samar are not remote and distant from my
heart. They are in fact part and parcel of who I am – a samarnon
through and through. They are issues that I shall continue to fight
and carry with for the rest of my life.
Today, all those times
spent were not in vain at all. They are not exercises in futility
but in reality that hope comes to those who wait for it to come.
Today, my lost hope is
here and near and real. Hope for the best of Samar, hope for those
Samarnons who have been removed from the mouth of the wishing well
and thrown into the well itself and were left there drowning, hope
for those Samarnons who no longer know the difference between what
is right from what is wrong because they have all been exposed by
their leaders to the odd reality that right could be wrong and wrong
could be right all at the same time, hope for those Samarnons who
thought that public office is not a public trust but a public
enterprise of some vested individuals that to get even with them is
to sell their votes to the highest bidder, and hope for those
Samarnon scattered all over the world whose love for Samar and its
people have become sublime because the greener pastures elsewhere
yearn them more to earn more in the meantime believing that one fine
day Samar will be a nice home to call at last.
Thanks Rey Gaspay for
being the ray of hope for Samar and for your brave and courageous
act of putting this website to be the first step towards a better
future for Samar!

I came across these
pointers of Ex-sen. Ernesto Maceda and would share it to everyone.
Reality in the Philippine political scene could not be explained
better than the words below.
Of course there are
candidates who really want to serve the people and country but the
majority of our politicians today are one of these;
1. A candidate runs to
keep up the family tradition and to keep control of their district,
city or province.
2. There are announced aspirants, let us say for President, but
whose real intention is to run for a lower position. Vice President,
senator or city mayor.
3. There are candidates who run “for the fund of it.” They file
their certificates of candidacy to amass campaign funds or to be
bought out by another candidate.
4. The reverse is true. There are candidates who are paid to run to
split the votes of the opposition to assure the victory of the
candidate who paid for his candidacy.
5. There are also candidates who run just to get publicity and
introduce themselves to the community.
6. There are the nuisance or crazy candidates.
By 2010, beware of these
candidates.

I am amazed that you have
an inner circle knowledge of all these "pangawat" in Samar. It is so
appalling that all these things are going on. While I cannot stomach
all these grossly anomalous things going on, I still cling on hope
that God is watching all these things. In the final hour of Mila's
face-to-face meeting with God, she will be asked to account for what
she has done.
Some people would say that
our voicing out of all these maladies in Samar are useless, I say
that this is cathartic and if Samarnews.com is our only outlet, let
us thank God that Ray is still not in the envelope of Mila. His
vigilance is our light to see the truth how painful it may seem.

Asya na ini, nag-titika-risyo
na dinhi hin nga column, kay harayo pa man it elek-siyon, (2010)
nag-damo na gud it nagsusurat para kun hin-o man it isasaliwan kan
Gov Mila Tan. At kun hin-o man it aton kandidato nga usa na hi
Mr.Morales (a reluctant politician) nga na diri man hin pagdala-gan
pagka-governador.
Yes, it seems that the
topic of who should run against the current governor to end her
crooked administration has almost reached ‘fever pitch’ as far as
these column contributors are concerned. But as I pointed out
earlier in my last message, those who are interested to launch
either Messrs. Labendia or A. Morales as a candidate for governor,
their plans and efforts may just proved futile and useless if only
because these supporters are outside of the country at the moment.
and could not do much. Though they would make a difference if they
decide to partly finance or augment the political campaign coffers
once either of these two gentlemen decides to run.
As paradigms of good
governance, Western democracies have legislations or laws that
operate to expose malfeasance and other irregularities in their
respective governments by allowing their citizens to obtain
information on government records thru what is called the Freedom of
Information. But sad to say, that the Philippines do not have one
(though this right to information was in the 1973 Philippine
Constitution and was expanded in the 1987 Charter) comparable with
that of the United States and some other countries who have the most
effective ‘check and balance’ mechanisms because of this right of
individuals to get information.
My point here is to
correlate my earlier statement of who we should endeavour to support
for the gubernatorial post in the absence of such right, (Freedom of
Information) and in the event that our candidate reneged on his
sworn duty to the people of Samar and the likelihood of him turning
into some kind of a ‘ virus’ (I used this word to best described
those persons who run for public office and swore to serve the
people ,but just look after their selfish interests instead, once
they are in power We can at the first instance submit a list of
undertakings ( those that we believed to be of utmost importance and
should be given priority for the province) that our candidate will
do and fulfill once he gets elected and until his term of office
ends. Our formal submission would be made known to him at that point
when we are about to start our campaign and support for his
candidacy.

On the
Tourism Development Bandwagon:
I am fascinated that
well-meaning people are indeed pushing for tourism as the launching
pad for Samar's development. I agree that tourism can leapfrog the
stagnant economy of the island of Samar. However, tourism must be
built on solid foundation lest it will become a mere zingy byword
without any weight.
Here's the real shining
spots in Samar. Samar's potential strengths on tourism are as
follows: 1. The Samar Island Natural Park is a national treasure and
is considered among the last frontier in the Philippines; 2. The
waves of Calicoan and Guian are among the best in the world perfect
for watersports; 3. The rivers in Samar are relatively wider hence
more navigable and even more pristine than that of Bohol's legendary
Loboc river; 4. The cave system in Calbiga are said to be one of the
most spectacular sights for spelunkers; 5. The beaches in Northern
Samar along the San Bernardino Strait are "Blue Lagoon-like" and
have potentials to rival the best beaches in the country; 6. The
rock formations in Biri Island are spectacular; 7. There are
waterfalls, big and small, all over the island; 8. There are places
in Samar perfect for scuba diving and snorkeling that could rival
the best in the country; 9. Samar has a unique culture like curacha,
tinikling, tuba, lawiswis kawayan, siday, local festivals, and the
like that add color, spice, and life of the island; 10. Samarenyos
are generally fun-loving people. And, this list is not exclusive,
there are more that I failed to mention.
Here are the challenges.
Samar has these demons that must be defeated before tourism can
pump-prime the economy to higher heights: 1. Political leadership is
either inefficient or corrupt; 2. Infrastructure are not in place
like decent roads that would make the "wonders of Samar" accessible;
3. Culture of tourism, like the hospitality of the people to
strangers, needs to be strengthened; 4. The local insurgency problem
will easily erode the confidence of tourists to go to Samar; 5.
There is no unifying development plan for whole island; and, 6. The
Department of Tourism is not focusing much on Samar or even the
Eastern Visayas Region.
If we want to succeed, we
should follow the lead of two provinces in the Philippines that made
extra-ordinary strides to make tourism the driving force of their
economy. First in the list is Bohol which is now the number 1 anchor
destination in the Philippines. Second is Camarines Sur which is
hugging all the media attention because of the expert handling of
its governor LRay Villafuerte.
Bohol has made a
commitment in the '90s to push tourism as the prime mover of the
economy. The provincial leadership in concert with the 3 congressmen
and the local municipal governments heavily invested in
infrastructure: roads, bridges, waterworks, airport, seaports, and
the like. What used to be a Samar-like Bohol in the '90s is now the
envy of its neighboring Visayan provinces. Bohol's chocolate hills
which used to be a 4-hour drive away from Tagbilaran is now
accessible in less than 2 hours. Because of the excellent road
network, the top destinations in Bohol can be visited in two days.
With direct flights from Manila (I think 4 a day, the international
airport is soon to be operational which means direct flight from
outside the country) and easy access to Cebu, Mindanao, and Negros,
Bohol became the perfect weekend getaway destination in the central
Philippines. Even without foreigners, which they have a plenty,
Bohol tourism will continue to thrive. I was in a flight from Japan
to Detroit and I was amazed that in Northwest Airlines' magazine was
Bohol's beautiful destinations. I said then that Bohol has truly
soared in the sky.
Camarines Sur, through the
relentless efforts of its dynamic governor, exposed the CAMSUR
Watersports Complex as the gateway to Camarines Sur. LRay invited
Aga Muhlach and other celebrities to visi for a free vacation to try
the watersports complex. Manila folks who are tired of the usual
Batangas or Pangasinan getaways found Camarines Sur a new
alternative. CAMSUR (short for Camarines Sur) even hosted Survivor
Sweden in one of its pristine and undisclosed beaches. In due time,
CAMSUR will expand into beach and recreation mode of tourism---very
popular for the younger folks. What did LRay do is focus on one
CAMSUR product---the watersports complex by riding on free publicity
by inviting TV programs to shoot there. Watching on how many shows
have joined the bandwagon was dizzying. When I saw all these shows
with CAMSUR as the location, I said that Bicol with the lead of
CAMSUR will slowly hug the national spotlight in tourism in the
coming days. Why? Because the BPOs (call centers and other
outsourcing units) in the Philippines usually employ the young and
the vibrant people who are more active and more into adventure than
merely laying low on a secluded island is no longer their style.
What these new BPO employees, which are highly paid, are wanting are
weekend getaways that would exhaust their energies and the
watersports complex in CAMSUR is just doing that. While Boracay
still is the destination of choice because of its party atmosphere,
I bet that CAMSUR will rival that in the coming years. Bicol as a
region also has plenty to offer and CAMSUR's lead will bring them to
higher heights. Will I see CAMSUR in an airline's magazine in the
future? Maybe.

Midnytbleu of Manila,
I would like to express my
whole hearted thanks to you for coming up with an answer to my
views. You were discussing siestas, employees trying to complete the
8 hours work looking at the clock most of the time and employees who
does'nt want to be bothered during their breaks, this is plain and
simple indolence.
Samarnon from Canada even
said that you have misinterpreted and missed his point and you've
attempted to belittle our kababayans who are working abroad. In the
same breath that you're also asking me why I choose to work in
Manila instead of toiling the vast lands of the province of Samar.
I have to be honest with
you that I experienced how to live on a hand to mouth existence in
our province. I lived a miserable life during my younger days
because my parents are very very poor. I helped them earn extra
money for our family's survival.
I joined the military
organization in order to finish my college education, to make the
long story short I am now enjoying the fruit of my hard labor, I was
able to make a complete transformation of my family and not one of
my children is back to farming and fishing although I do not
belittle either occupation because without them we will not live. As
a matter of fact now that my youngest daughter is graduating from
College I am contemplating of going back to Catbalogan to put up a
business in fishing, this time around I will be the Owner.
I preferred to work in
Manila because the opportunity is here. If you will work in our
province as an employee you will only be paid the minimum wage and
what is the provincial rate? P250 - per day. Where do you think will
that salary bring you and your family?
Needless to say, the
reason why our kabugtuan works abroad is because of monetary
consideration. You will be paid ten folds but I realized later on
that if you'll be working in big corporations locally you will be
paid more than what you'll be earning abroad, believe me because I
also worked in Singapore and Brunei but when I joined the hotel
industry I was paid more than ten folds. Now I am working in an
American firm in Subic and I am earning twice the salary I was
receiving in the hotel plus some perks say 4 days work week, back
and forth airbridge previlege weekly etc.
My friend Midnytbleu,
indolence can be overcome by proper motivation, we can erase
pessimism derived from negativism if we'll just be positive in what
we think and do in other words our outlook in life.
Lets help one another in
uplifting our province because I honestly feel that we both share
the same mission, vision and enthusiasm for the progress and
development of our impoverished province.

To Mr. Balasbas,
A good employer if he
wants to succeed should motivate his employees. A hands on employer
most of the time do well because of his dealings with his employees.
You just have to be optimistic about things and avoid pessimism
derived from negativism.
-That one I agree that is
why is said I still give all the benefit of the doubt. That I hope
through one's optimism people can be influenced to shun pessimism.
TO Mr.
Samarnon,
"Instead, you've attempted
to belittle our kababayan who are working abroad. What a shame."
-Is there any statement in
my post which i said I belittled what our OFW's do? I don't see any.
If you read carefully the passage which was transcribed in tagalog
it is harmless in my opinion. Lucky for you, you are one of those
few who really succeed in the workforce.

Lately, this column had
observed and seen the’ flurry’ of ‘goading, cajoling and encouragement
thrown to Mr. Morales for him to consider running for the local
executive position, which I believe is the governorship of the province.
Judging by the way and
intensity of these efforts of wheedling to the gentleman, one could just
but surmised that if an election happens today or in the next few days,
Mr. Morales would win easily with a good margin against his nearest
political opponent for the governorship. But wait, majority of his most
ardent and vociferous supporters could not be found anywhere in the
country, because sad to say, they are overseas based and hence could not
cast their votes come election time. I know that in a way these
supporters can write or make calls to their relatives and friends in the
province to ask to vote and support Mr. Morales candidacy, but to what
extent and effect will these bring about against a political rival who
has his local supporters chanting the candidate’s name and personally
distributing all campaign paraphernalia’s directly to the townspeople.
We may have the qualities of a
good local executive in the person of Mr. Morales (though this really
remains to be seen) like integrity, his passion to serve for the ‘public
good’ but most importantly, his will to weather or withstand the
‘intoxicating’ effect of political power and authority and ‘self
aggrandizement’. That if he succeeds to withstand from these
temptations, and carry-out his duties as we would have expected him to
do, then we will be the ones and the entire population of Samar who
would have that great feeling that we did not fail ourselves for all the
good intentions and plans we have in mind for our province.
Going back to my topic of how
can we effectively support a person that we believe would serve the best
interest of our people, I will throw back to you the question of, ‘How
can an ‘absentee political supporter’ run a successful political
campaign for the person we support, and win?
We all have the time to think
now before we launch a serious campaign, and I believe that if the
campaign plan and strategies that we could come up to are acceptable and
achievable, then we have an election that we can win.

participate but I always intend to just reading, because each of you
represent all sides and I truly enjoy it not to mention the learning.
Today, I will try to post one.
First, to react on what J.
Marco said, and I quote his Oct. 30 statement: “Hi! I'm just asking how
true is the news around Catbalogan that the youngest son of Mila Tan is
also running this coming election? I knew this boy (Michael) because I'm
also from Mercedes. I think he is a special kid because of the way he
acts. Baga pataraw-an, baga maka uurit na gud it nahitatabo dinhi ha
aton kon amo ito nga storya. Sobra na gud it pakatamay ha aton hini nga
familia sugad man ha bug-os nga Samar. Waray gud ada kita mahihimo hini
nga aton problema kay hasta an media hawak man ni Mila Tan.. Kon mabulig
unta ini hira (media) ha katawhan (samarnon) bangin gadla ini makaya
naton patalsikon ini nga gobernadora sugad man han iya mga anak ha
larangan politica.”
I am not on the defense of the
media but I think your generalizing the media in this issue and that is
unfair to them. If not for the media we don’t have this kind of forum
here. If not for the media we will not be inform of the graft scandal of
the Tan’s family and other trapos in Samar. If not for the media graft
scandal will not be published in the Internet, local and national
newspapers. So, for me, it is not right to say, “hawak ni Mila an mga
media ha Samar.”
In one news write up written
by young writer in Catbalogan, if I am not mistaken, previously, he made
at least seven local daily headlines of Mila Tan graft practices, he
even wrote it to national paper and I have some clippings of it.
Yes, it is true that some of
the media surrounding Mila Tan is “hawak niya” but majority of them are
based in Tacloban City, some of them are now gone with their regular
cash “dole-outs.” Newsmen based Samar was actually pissed off to Mila
Tan because of her “no-interview” policy. The latter is seems to ignore
bad comments doesn’t care about the meaning of “good reputation.” A
shame to her, she is not a Waraynon but from remote town of Leyte.
In another topic, yes Michael
Tan is being groomed now to run for vice-mayoralty post in Catbalogan
City in 2010. But I don’t think he will fit, not for a day, to the post
because, as witnesses said, he is a “special child.” Anyway, he should
not be worry in running his post “kasi nandyan naman si mama,
magpapatakbo ng opisina, tulad ng ginagawa niya sa opisina ni ate.” What
a family business running the province, and making every Samarnon a
puppet.
Last October 8, the suspended
governor Mila Tan gathered some selected barangay officials in Samar for
a secret meeting in Otso Grill Restaurant in Tacloban City. In that
meeting, she introduced her new graft attempt, as she announced that her
office will give an aid of 50,000 as well as her daughter Sharee Ann Tan
another 50,000 as counterpart, obviously the people’s money.
At the corner, her trustee
Glenda Colinayo (the in-charge of Mila Tan Samar-wide lending business
with “crocodile-fold” interests, keeps on insisting to them that the
amount will only be released to those barangay who will agree that it
will be spend to their “ghost” Enterprises. To make this clear, Glenda
insists to collect a list of construction materials equivalent to the
amount.
Come on people! Ano ba naman
yan? If that is really a financial aid, why in the hell, na sasabihin
mong dito mo sa tindahan namin gagastusin yan? Eh babalik din naman pala
sa kanila eh. Damn it! Pera ng taong bayan, pera ng mga Samarnons,
ibubulsa lang gagamitin pa ang mga pirma ng mga tao, kagaguhan na talaga
ito.
Now, people in the forum, what
can you say about this? What can you do to prevent this (another) graft
attempt? We should really act on this graft practices in this province.
Its time for us to collectively more an action not just only on
keyboards. We should start looking for the right person to sit at the
capitol. I am really pissed off of those occupants who shamelessly spend
people’s money for their own graveyards.
I’ll put my keyboards now to
rest. I will promise to join this forum again. To the Mila Tan’s camp
and all your faggots, go to hell!

On Tonyboy's Running for
Governor:
I am so excited that many
people have signified their intent to support Morales for Governor and
some even asked that his picture be published so we can "size him up."
It is funny because Tonyboy already said that he's not running as a
candidate but will continue to be an effective pundit. The positive
thing that I got from these exchanges is that he is indeed an effective
pundit because he was able to arose the sleeping giants within all of
us. We were galvanized by his ideas that we are now ready to rally
behind his cause.
Let us listen to what Tonyboy
said. Father Labendia is the only Samarnon who is highly credible and
with a political chance of winning the gubernatorial race. Once Tonyboy
publishes his online petition to convince Fr. Labendia to run, what we
need to do is support it by signing and convincing others to support the
petition.
The healthy exchanges make the
discussion very interesting and some people who would have stayed
neutral or even apathetic to this cause are now rising up. Tonyboy, you
have indeed started the ball rolling.
Thanks God, there is hope for
Samar!!!

To Mr. Basilio A. Balasbas,
You probably don't understand
what my first message was. What I have said is what I have observed.
I didn't say ALL Samareños are
indolent and why would I do that? My mom is From Eastern Samar and it
will look like I'm a hypocrite judging ALL the people of the island.
You see, the people you are
referring to this blog worked hard to achieve what they have now. Just
like what you described yourself... You worked hard to be what you are
now. In totality, you wanted to make a difference and achieved it. But
look around you is my observation judgmental and false?
Let me ask you. You said you
worked hard and is now working at Edsa Shangrila, yes you did and you
did good. But what is ironic is that you achieved your goal at a
different place, not Samar.
On the last paragraph of my
statement, I wanted to be proven wrong. If ever you read my second post
I still reiterated to be proven wrong and that I give the benefit of the
doubt for the people of Samar.
Based on the response I get
from people who called my attention on this page I think I achieved what
I am trying to partake... That I dared people to get offended and let
them prove to me that there is still hope for this island. For that I
thank you.

Midnytbleu, many thanks for
the lenghty answer of yours. Sad to say, you have misinterpreted my
posting and likewise missed the point. But I will give you a credit for
at least trying. Instead, you've attempted to belittle our kababayan who
are working abroad. What a shame.
In my case, I am an immigrant
and I work here because I live here. And when I was in the Philippines,
I have a good career and I was never out of job. Job hopping was never
my problem. I have a good job in the upper management level with above
average pay and perks - a job that I would say an envy to an average
professional.
I am so ashamed to tell you
about me and my career but perhaps by writing this your perception about
us who are abroad might change.
By the way, enjoy your stay in
our beloved place and province starting next year. Our people are
friendly and loyal to real friends.

Midnytbleu of Manila,
I tried to disect your blog
and came to a conclusion that you are not after all a stranger or an
outsider of the province of Samar. You said you grew up in Manila the
reason why you don't know how to speak our native tongue.
Anyway, you discussed about
our kabugtuan going abroad and those who seek local employment. You
explained at length irresponsible employee/s who promised to do good but
when hired he does the opposite. In a scale of 1-50 or even 1-100 only
about a couple of employees are unmotivated. A good employer if he wants
to succeed should motivate his employees. A hands on employer most of
the time do well because of his dealings with his employees. You just
have to be optimistic about things and avoid pessimism derived from
negativism. This is what I unearth from your post.
For Mike/Jun (Miguel T.
Mendiola Jr),
Your observation is true and
correct.
If we are to attract tourist
into our province the Tourism Development Board should buckle down to
make a tourist development plan that would immediately restore Samar
Airport as tourists have no luxury of time for overland travel,
especially if they originate from other continent.
Paging Mayor Tekwa, please
persevere to make this tourist development plan transpire asap. God
bless us all.
