                 Thank you for creating this message board.  Maupay gihapon nga may-ada kita napagkakaerestoryahan.  Hopefully your site will become the center of communication for all of us from Catbalogan that is all over the world and also dida hiton aton local nga mga tuminongnong.  I was there (in Catbalogan) two years ago.  It saddens me to see the people working so hard, and the whole place almost filled with litter.  Is there anybody, somebody, groups wether government or private doing something about this?  It is such a beautiful place.  In Burak, where I grow up, I did not even see the white sand anymore.  All I saw were the garbage that covered the beach. What can we do to get the attention of our government about this issue?

Thanks for this website. I was reading the news on the Internet (Phil. Daily Inquirer Sept. 27, 2003) regarding a "historic" passing of a law by the Samar Prov. Board banning mining for the next 50 years. I congratulate those honorables in the Samar Provincial Board members who voted for the passing of this law. However, the penalty of not more than P5,000.00 and imprisonment of less than 12 months is a JOKE!!! considering the repercussions that it may cause to our hapless provincemates who are mainly dependent from fishing and farming as the source of their livelihood from resource degradation.

Obviously, these people who will get involved in this unscrupulous activity are moneyed and powered people and that amount of penalty is just "peanuts" to them which would not make any dent at all to their wealth. If we are really serious in curbing and preventing these  illegal practices impose  hefty penalties to those offenders so that before this people will make a move they will think twice first .

I have worked in the remotest areas of Gandara Samar before and I have a first hand knowledge of the negative effects of mining to farmers and fishermen alike. More power to this website
