Automated 2010 Elections
versus Outdated Elections of the Past
The recently concluded
2010 national and local elections have been praised in high heavens
as fast and orderly. The winners were known in a day especially in
the local contests and even the national results, sans the vice
presidential contest, were paraded on the media with the speed of
light. Politicians were all struck by lightning with the dizzying
speed of the count. Some losing bets say that it is easier to accept
defeat when the counting is fast, you don't have enough time for
self pity, rig the results, organize a rally of supporters, or
convince one's self that you won even if the truth is otherwise. To
me, the first automated elections only proved that post-election
operations are hard to plan. The battle ground is not in the
counting but in the pre-election season like vote buying, harassing
voters/supporters of your opponents, and worse changing your name to
be the first in the list of candidates like what Bong Revilla did.
While many praised the
election of the son of Cory and Ninoy, Noynoy, as president and
possibly of Nog-nog Binay as vice president, the country also
elected incompetent senators like Bong Revilla, Jinggoy Estrada,
Tito Sotto, and Lito Lapid. Worse, Bong Revilla changed his family
name from Bautista, to Revilla, then to Bong Revilla for political
expediency so his name will appear in the first 10 names of
senatorial candidates instead of the Revilla family name that will
certainly be among the last in the bottom of the list. See, Bong
Revilla is brighter, or shall I say wily, than most of us because he
knows that filipinos have a very short span of attention. It paid
off because he landed in the number 1 spot without even
distinguishing himself as a lawmaker. Why did the COMELEC allow
this? Well, money speaks louder than reason. Next time, somebody
will ask that their names be changed for election purposes like
having 1 or A or AA be prefixed in their family names. I am afraid
that we have become a nation of uto-utos in this first automated
elections. With Jinggoy Estrada, Tito Sotto, and Lito Lapid at the
helm of the Senate, what progress do you expect in this country of
ours? Do you think that Noynoy Aquino can change this nation? I am
so sorry to tell you that even if we have all those remaining
non-winning presidential candidates to join Noynoy's cabinet and let
them work together for national unity the result would still be the
same, failure. Why? Because Noynoy is not enough, all those
presidential candidates are not enough. The people must change from
within.
In other countries, they
send criminals, butchers, thieves, and rapists to jail, in the
Philippines we send them to congress. Look at what happened in the
second district of Samar, Mila Tan has a graft case before the
Sandiganbayan and has made the provincial hospital as the biggest
morgue in the country yet the people of Samar elected her and her
notorious non-performing incompetent children to lead us. Why? Money
talks and the people of Samar has substituted their intelligence
with money-litics.
The heroic exploit of
Smartmatic PCOS machines have not changed our competence as a
people. Siring pa, the speed has changed but not the quality. It's
like eating a fast food that is rotten.
The good thing though that
I can say is that we have contracted a foreign company, in this
instance, Smartmatic TIM to conduct the elections, it would have
been more disastrous having filipinos run our elections. I suggest
that our COMELEC should be handled by the UN or by a consortium of
competent foreign nations like the EU because we don't trust each
other. Our integrity score as a nation is so in the red that
collectively we should all be ashamed of.
Educating our voters
should have been the priority instead of automating the counting.
Technology only makes the processes faster but the quality of the
end outputs depend much on the quality of the inputs. Technology
operates in the mantra that "garbage in, garbage out." Unless we
have competent voters, we would not have competent leaders. The
Church, the COMELEC, the civil society, and the "educated" few
should help in educating the voters.
In the meantime, we should
work more on how to have competent voters instead of just competent
machines. After all, there are so many zombie voters in our land
whose brains are paralyzed. As Apolinario Mabini said, it is better
to be paralyzed from neck below than to be paralyzed from neck
above. Sad to say, there are so many brain-dead people in Samar that
are producing like rabbits. Our challenge is how to apply population
control against these people and how to jail those grafters.

Magandang araw po sa
inyong lahat. Na-elect po si Pres. Noynoy Aquino as president to
safe guard the government from corruptions and abuses from the
government. While in the Senators and Congress is a mixture of
former dictators, corrupt and good candidates elect. Its a rumble
between Imelda Marcos, Gloria Arroyo, and Mrs Devinecia and others.
Bigyan
ng parangal ang natapos ang mga proyekto. At pabayarin ang mga hindi
nakatapos. Ang nagnakaw naman sa proyekto ay ipakulong. Yan lang po
ang una kong panawagan sa bagong govierno. Salamat po.

Maaram ka AJ, yana nga mga
panahon, di la it DPHW, Bureau of Customs, Immigration, at iba nga
The
case of Mila Tan's votes being counted by the Comelec in the just
concluded congressional race where she ran for a seat in congress
despite a pending case against her - of not being a natural born
citizen thus disqualifying her to run for any national elective
position, is an example ‘OF WHAT YOU CAN DO AND WHAT YOU CAN OFFER
ME ‘.Her case (disqualification) is probably under ‘review’ but in
the meantime the tally of her votes who apparently she is leading,
and that of her opponents are being kept and in between this time
and the final determination or judgment of her case, something must
happen to someone’s pockets.
May mga milagro gad, diri
ticang ha langit kay nasiring pa hi Nora Aunor nga, “walang himala,

Bangin pareho la ine hin

Di gad udog ma-kuri it pag-laum hin ‘milagro’.

I profoundly grieve for
Samar and all Samareños.
The latest election
results showed that the people of Samar want the status quo. I can't
fathom why, despite the obvious incompetence, irregularities, marked
corruption, apathy, lack of solid experience, etc, Samar voters
still want basically the same inutile leadership that makes Samar
one of the poorest and backward provinces in the Philippines. Well,
the citizens of Samar have spoken and you will deservedly get what
you voted for.

With the Election pretty
much over already the cry is that the wicked once again got elected.
There really is no one to blame but the voters themselves. Even in
this election the envelopes with pesos where being stuffed and
delivered as late as the night before the election. Of course this
is OK with the voters as they sold their moral and political souls
for between P20 and P300. Once again a few pesos was enough for the
MASA to be STUPID. Anyone complaining now that was here and voted
after accepting the pesonality has no right to speak due the
consequences of their own actions. The WICKED voted in the WICKED!
This election we saw the
rise once again of dynasties and celebrities. All one has to do is
look at 3 members of the Marcos and Romauldez family getting seats
as public servants. Add Herbert Bautista as Quezon City mayor, Ralph
Recto as Senator, Lucy Torres as Congress woman, Lito Lapid, and
Bong Revilla as Senators and Vilma Santos just to name a few. We do
NOT have a government that represents the MASA. What we have is name
recognition vs true representation via public service.
When things do not go well
down the road and little changes we can all look back at the 2010
automated elections as the fast track to status quo.
Here are some of the
issues that the new administration will be facing because there are
so many things that make the Philippines an unfriendly / hostile /
not cost effective investment environment.
1. We must fix the 1987
Constitution were foreign investment is welcomed and rewarded in the
form of 100% ownership.
2. Our electric rates are
the highest in Asia.
3. Our petroleum products
are cost prohibitive that increase the cost of living,
transportation, and add additionally a VAT tax that does not equate
to infrastructure enhancement.
4. Our water supply is
inadequate to support both water for drinking and significant power
production.
5. The CHINA & TAIWAN
trade agreement is going to hasten job reduction both at home for
our college graduates and abroad for OFW's.
6. The policy of paying
back new debt incurred by 2 storms within 6 years is only going to
slow down the economy over the next 6 years.
7. Any business doing a
simple cost analysis will avoid the Philippines. This includes the
13 months pay for 12 months of work.
8. The BIR "Gestapo" does
not take into consideration the customs fees businesses pay for the
importation of retailed products and really financially cripples the
business owners that they audit. (First hand info and experience)
9. The local court system
is nothing short of an extended extortion clinic where a local theft
case can occur in Jan of 2007 and still not see the light of day or
be resolved as of present day. The Atty fees and filing fees that
have been paid far has exceed the loss that was incurred. (One
example of many)
10. The 10% graft that
occurs at least 4 times for every local infrastructure project ends
up in either substandard work or... 140% funding.
11. Jobs need to be at
home so we stop raising broken families!
12. Our K - 10 Basic
Education system produces and end product of a 40 percent dependency
on the Government. (Drop outs) We must have a K - 12 system to be on
an even playing field with the rest of the world.
I could list several more
but this is a good start. There is a huge challenge ahead for the
new administration. I can already see major problems if Noynoys'
cabinet / handlers fail him. It will make any EDSA event look like
childs play.

The people of Samar have
spoken, they want more of the same!
A friend of mine lamented
to me that the people of Samar have voted not just Mila and Sharee
Ann Tan but also the new vice governor Jimboy Tan who is a member of
the notorious clan. I responded that the people deserve them. No
leader can be greater than the society it leads. The leader usually
is the reflection of the people. So, kun buta an usa ka mata ni
Mila, asya liwat ito an kahimtang hit Samar. Nasiring hira
kamakalulouy gad hit Samar, an baton ko hiyukat ha iyo kay iyo man
iton tinuyuan.
Kun
mapreso ngani an iyo mga kapapraturan, dire la hira magpepenetensya
didto ha Samar Provincial Jail, an ira kaprisuhan sentensya na mismo
gingamit panmalit hin botos. Siring pa han usa ka preso, ada ungod
gudman an sinisiring nga impyerno ha kalibutan and Samar Provincial
Jail.
iyo. For as long as the people are stupid, corrupt, and incompetent,
expect that the leaders would mirror them.
An Catbalogan nagmingaw
ngan pangaon, 3 years na liwat nga pamulat hit sunod nga yagyag hit
grasya tikang kan Mila. In the interim, sige pagbasol kamo nga iyo
ginbaligya an iyo mga botos.
When the people are ready,
the right leader will appear. So, until then, puro la anay kita
pangandoy ngan pangaraba.
So, dogs of Samar, bark as
hard as you can!

misay makandidato...hayyyy.. poor samar...!!!! bangin ngani ira na
la ichange it name hit samar... "Tan Province"... instead of "Samar

corruption....and we know that Mila Tan has been in this problem
already...kalooy hit samar...(not to judge again) hira la it mariko

Election's upon us;
anticipation, anxiety, and even resignation permeate our very
existence. Candidates are overwhelmed in their efforts to garner the
most votes, and voters are vexed by the many perplexing campaign
messages. These conditions are testimonies to our country's vibrant
and dynamic democracy. But it's sad when candidates violate
democratic principles and values in order to win, and voters ignore
civic responsibilities and fall short of their citizenship duties.
To most of us, election is a means to an end, hence it becomes
existential where it can make or break our lives.
Many lives are made or
broken by election outcomes. Winning candidates savor the
anticipated rewards of power, prestige, and pera, and losing
aspirants lick their wounds. Voting public tend to accept any
election result, reflecting their cynicsm and apathy on the election
process. Voters tend to sell their votes and candidates buy them. In
this fashion, winners are not the people's true choice but selected
by ignoble practices that distort real substance of democracy.
Government under this brand of democracy does not promote the
general welfare, equality of opportunity, and engaging economy.
Ours is a government of
men and not of laws; justice is farce; tranquility is rare; freedom
from fear and wants do not exist. These conditions are here to stay
as long as we shut our senses to moral values and strong personal
characters and not impervious to church, school, and other
institutions' teachings. But we can turn our country around if only
our election process is religiously observed with clear minds and
clean hearts.
Let's give democracy a
chance to change our lives. I know that election is the passport to
good life, but only to a few. The rest of us are relegated to
constant misery and deprivation. Change is possible when everyone is
given a chance in life. Vote responsibly, please.

With the 2010 Election
just days away I would have thought that the message board traffic
would be extensive. I do not wan't to sound disrespectful to anyone
here but the lack of comment can only mean one thing. Few people
care what the election results will be.
It is just one more rude
awakening for me that politics is destined to remain business as
usual for years to come.
There are so many things
that make the Philippines an unfriendly / hostile / not cost

1. We must fix the 1987

issue is only going to worsen as more people join the ranks of the
poor continually diminishing our national literacy and increasing
the unemployment rate.
I have just touched some
of the highlights..... I just wish the active brains at UP and other
campuses and our elected officials would see what we see!
One last thought.. Should
NoyNoy become President and his handlers / cabinet fail him; we will
see chaos unlike anything presented in recent history.

Prayer
for Authentic Political Involvement and for Good Governance to Reign
in our Land (in Samar)
One God and Loving Father
of us all. We call on you who are the source of all goodness, unity
and peace.
In few weeks from now we
shall be electing our national and local leaders. Graciously hear
our supplication for an actual elections next month; and that it may
be credible, honest, meaningful and peaceful.
Let candidates who have
only the best interest of Your people win in the elections.
Candidates who can defend and promote life in all its stages.
Candidates who will uphold peace and non-violence. Candidates who
will truly exercise preference for Your poor people and not resort
to graft, fraud and deception.
Lord free us from
malicious people. Those leaders who have evil intent for Your
people. Those who have nothing to offer but to extort the resources
of Your Land; those who are violent, and those who flaunt power,
money and authority.
Ginoo, nangangamuyo kami
dinhi ha amon dapit: an mga kawatan han amon dignidad, an mga
kawatan han amon kauswagan, an mga kawatan han amon kahimyang, an

Re:
Removal of Punong Barangay from Barangay
Council
Chito, why don't you run
for Punong Barangay in your hometown barangay, and experienced
yourself how the barangay is managed, and not relying on some gross
stories fed to you. Your far fetched idea seems to suggest that
family affairs should be handled by children, instead of their
parents. What a Joke!!

Local Elections
Well another election is
just days away now. Here are some observations by myself. The amount
of political whoring is staggering. There is not true party loyalty.
People that were Lakas Kampi Lakas CMD are now mostly LP members.
This fact alone speaks volumes about just how ineffective the
political system is in the Philippines.
Political candidates are
flooding barangays that are having fiesta celebrations with posters
and mobile sound vehicles that alter the true meaning of the Fiesta
itself. The political jingles are nothing but stolen intellectual
property rights. I would venture to say that 100 percent of the
political candidates have not paid a single peso in royalties due to
the intellectual property owners.
As for the opposing
candidates messages. It is virtually same old stuff different day.
The current incumbents are not doing a good job and I will do
better. Then there is the promise yet again of a financial wind fall
for those willing to be stupid enough to toss out their conscience
and vote for a candidate that clearly does not have chance to win.
Then post election they don't get a single peso for selling their
political soul. These same people have done this for at least the
last 3 elections yet they are so naive to have done it once again.
Some people never ever learn.
There has been the PAID
removal of an incumbents or leading candidates posters by the
opposition. If there is one thing we can say about local politics is
that the circus comes to town every election season. In Tacloban and
in Leyte we see Romauldez posters everywhere with no less than 4
dynasty candidates on the ticket. I can easily predict that at least
3 of the 4 of them will be elected and that the local corruption in
Tacloban will continue perpetuated by the Romauldez family for yet
another term. All one has to do is look at all of the problems in
the new bus terminal THEY created and have ensured the mismanagement
of that bus terminal. The difference in stall fees between the
public market and the new bus terminal is not noticed at the City
Treasurers Office. The Tacloban dome is a 4000 seat Death trap that
would never pass a rookie Fire Marshals' Inspection. The only way
out i.e Emergency Exit is to go UP into the heat or fire and then
down the stairs in the event of a Fire. It will never have a large
venue and the tickets will always be over priced for big names due
to limited seating. We can thank the Romauldez family for all of
these blunders in Tacloban. Does Tacloban have an adequate water
supply? Can we park comfortably in Tacloban? Is Tacloban a safe
city? I think we all know the answers to these questions. Again.. I
predict a landslide SOS different day election win for the people
that have mismanaged and stolen from Taclobanos and Leyte for over 4
decades.
Voters can vote however
they please.... My own personal opinion is that the voters have got
it wrong in many places for many years. However there are few
pockets of hope and good governance in Leyte District One. I have
barely scratched the surface here... I would love to hear from other
voters BEFORE the election.
