Shooting incident in
Catbalogan killed another

CATBALOGAN, Samar –
Another shooting incident took place in the capital town of Catbalogan,
Samar this morning at about 9:15 killing on the spot Dominador De
Luna, an employee of the National Food Authority (NFA), 50 years old,
married, from Brgy 10 of this municipality, and the husband of Samar’s
2nd District Board Member Dayday De Luna.
Initial police report said
that the victim while riding in his red XRM Honda motorcycle was shoot
to death by still unidentified two motorcycle-riding assailants in the
vicinity of corners Del Rosario Street and Curry Avenue, in front of
Times Department Store. The suspects immediately fled towards the direction of
Sacred Heart College after the incident.
SPO1 Benedicto Añover of the
Catbalogan Police station, who was near the crime scene when the
incident happened, immediately responded to chase the perpetrators on
foot but to no avail.
The victim sustained a
single gunshot wound in the head from a caliber .45 pistol and was
declared dead on arrival when brought to the Samar Provincial
Hospital. Recovered from the crime scene was an empty shell of a
caliber .45 pistol used in the murder.
The body of the victim now
lies at the St. Peter Chapel, and police authorities are now
conducting a thorough investigation on the case.
This is the third in a
series of shooting incidents that took place in Catbalogan since the
start of the election period.
