Ma. Kristin Domingo OrtegaCALBAYOG CITY, Samar  –  Teary-eyed and astonished, Ms. Ma. Kristin Domingo Ortega did not expect to take hold of the title after the ascetic contest of beauty and wit during the Search for Miss SCUAA 2007.

The captivating beauties of the participating delegates took center stage during the pageant night of the search for Miss SCUAA which is on the frontage of the highlights of the 23rd SCUAA meet held at the Socio Cultural Center on October 24.

Ms. Trisha Dawn Daffon finally bequeathed the crown to Ms. Ortega as the latter was officially declared as Miss SCUAA 2007. The winner is a 3rd BS Hotel Restaurant and Tourism Management at the Visayas State University (VSU), Baybay, Leyte.

The pageant night initiated with a comprehensive presentation of the rationale, reading of the criteria for judging and introduction of the board of judges by the Chair of the Search for Miss SCUAA, Dr. Lorna O. de Veyra.

The full-bodied fanfare performance of the Kinetic Dance Company signaled the start of the search proper. The candidates competed in four major competitions which include ethno-festival costume, swimwear, gown, talent and interview competitions.

The beauties introduced themselves with their festooned ethno-festival costumes. The candidates appeared next in their suited sports attire. The candidates were later on subjected to the preliminary interview where they confidently answered the questions which they have picked from the set of questions given.

In a VTR, the candidates brandished their beauties in the swimwear competition and again flaunt their bodies on stage before they were given the certificates of recognition by Dr. de Veyra and Mr. Leo Jesus Lacaba, over-all chair for SCUAA hosting. Afterwards, certificates of appreciation were given to the participating state colleges and universities.

Non-bearing special awards were awarded next by SSG President Johnny Boy Galvan to Ms. Leah G. Tindoy (SLSU) as Ms. Congeniality and Dr. de Veyra gave the Ms. Photogenic award to Ms. Joann Cristine Bacu Cooper (PIT).

For the major awards, the following are the results: Miss Analyn C. Congcong (NIT) Miss Eloquence, Miss Joann Cristine B. Cooper (PIT) Best in Swimwear, Miss Bernadette Gwen B.
