8th ID transports first wave of relief goods for flood victims in CDO City

CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar  –  The 8th Infantry Division (8th ID) has dispatched an army truck loaded with relief goods to Cagayan de Oro City today.

In a text message, 8th ID Commanding General Mario Chan said that a G4 truck containing relief goods from 8th ID Philippine Army, Catbalogan City, Samar jumped off from the Stormtroopers Headquarters 201200 Dec 11 to 8FSSU to Liloan, Southern Leyte to Lipata Surigao City and finally to the 4th ID Headquarters, Cagayan de Oro City.

He identified the relief goods that contain 82 sacks of assorted used clothing, 9.5 boxes of sardines, 2 boxes of bluebay tuna, 14 boxes of noodles and two sacks of rice.

The text further stated that a certain Pfc Araniego was escorting the items, said army official with his relief goods will be met by a Captain Regis for the turn over to LtC Anayron G7/4 of 4th ID.

Earlier, Chan mobilized all the units under him to gather relief goods for the victims of the worst flooding in Mindanao particularly Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan where close to a thousand persons are believed to have died.

Some other units have reportedly continued to receive some more goods that will be transported later.

“It is in times of tragedy when people can best manifest the spirit of sharing and giving, which is the true meaning of the holiday season,” Chan said in an earlier message.
