1st ESPMFC conducts anti-illegal drugs, anti-bullying, and anti-terrorism symposium at ESSU Can-avid

DOLORES, Eastern Samar – As part of the 1st ESPMFC continuing advocacy to educate and empower the youth against crime, violence, and extremist influence, personnel of the 1st Eastern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company (1st ESPMFC), led by PMAJ MARVAL S DIAZ, Officer-in-Charge, successfully conducted a Symposium on Anti-Illegal Drugs, Anti-Bullying, and Anti-Terrorism at Eastern Samar State University (ESSU) – Can-avid Campus in Can-avid, Eastern Samar on July 8, 2026.

The activity formally commenced with an opening prayer, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and the welcome remarks delivered by Dr. Christituta M. Balagat, Dean, Student Services.

The first topic focused on the Anti-Illegal Drugs Awareness Campaign, which was discussed by PSSg Lucilita A Parado, HRAO PNCO. The lecture emphasized the distinction between legal and illegal drugs, their harmful effects on the human body, and the importance of making responsible and healthy life choices.

This was followed by an Anti-Bullying Awareness lecture delivered by Pat Irish Joy Inocencio, who discussed the different forms of bullying, their adverse effects on individuals, and the importance of promoting respect, empathy, and a safe learning environment within the school community.

The highlight of the symposium was the Anti-Terrorism Awareness Campaign presented by PMAJ MARVAL S DIAZ. During his lecture, he discussed the deceptive recruitment strategies employed by the Communist Terrorist Group (CPP-NPA-NDF), emphasizing how vulnerable sectors, particularly the youth, are targeted through misinformation, manipulation, and false promises. He also explained the significance of Executive Order No. 70, which institutionalized the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), its whole-of-nation approach, and the indicators of terrorist recruitment and radicalization. Moreover, he highlighted the role of the Triumvirate – the local executives, the community, and the PNP – in fostering peace, security, and nation-building.

An open forum followed the lectures, providing students and faculty members the opportunity to raise questions, clarify concerns, and engage in meaningful discussions with the resource speakers. The program concluded with the closing remarks delivered by Rosalea L. Quirante, Head, Guidance and counselling of ESSU Can-avid.

Certificates of Appreciation were given to 1st ESPMFC personnel for their contributions as resource speakers. IEC materials like flyers and leaflets were also distributed to reinforce symposium messages.

Present during the activity were Dr. Geronimo A. Ellado, Campus Administrator, faculty members, staff, and students of Eastern Samar State University – Can-avid Campus.
