CAMP LUKBAN, Catbalogan
City – The Municipality of Maslog, Eastern Samar was officially
declared under Stable Internal Peace and Security Condition during a
ceremony held at the Maslog Municipal Gymnasium on June 19, 2026,
coinciding with the town’s 61st Founding Anniversary.
The declaration signifies
that Maslog is now free from the influence, presence, and threat of
the Communist Terrorist Group, following years of sustained
collaboration among the local government, security sector, national
government agencies, and the community.
The ceremony was led by
Hon. Septemio C. Santiago, Municipal Mayor of Maslog, together with
Brigadier General Arlino L. Sendaydiego, Commander of the 801st
Infantry Brigade, and Major Cesar L. Ballado Jr., Officer-in-Charge
of the 52nd Infantry Battalion. They were joined by other local
officials, security sector representatives, and stakeholders who
witnessed the formal declaration.
The 8th Infantry Division,
Philippine Army, lauded the people of Maslog and its local
government for achieving another milestone in peace and development.
The declaration reflects the gains of the government’s
Whole-of-Nation Approach, institutionalized through Executive Order
No. 70, which seeks to address the root causes of insurgency through
convergence, good governance, basic services, and inclusive
development.
More than a ceremonial
declaration, the SIPSC status affirms the collective resolve of the
people of Maslog to reject armed violence and preserve the peace
that has been achieved through unity and cooperation.
The 8ID also reiterated
its continuing commitment to support local government units, partner
agencies, and communities in sustaining peace, strengthening
community resilience, and ensuring that development initiatives will
prosper in areas once affected by conflict.
As Maslog celebrates its
61st Founding Anniversary, the declaration serves as a testament to
the municipality’s progress and its people’s shared aspiration for a
peaceful, secure, and progressive future.
