Leyte SP conducts
maiden session, elects chairs of various committees

TACLOBAN CITY –
Tooled with the fresh mandate from the Leyte electorate, the
Sangguniang Panlalawigan of the
Province
of Leyte held its maiden session at 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon of
July 6. With Vice Governor Mimyet Bagulaya presiding, there was a 100
percent attendance among the Leyte SP members.
The four new board
members were presented and given the chance to say their piece. These
include First District of Leyte Board Member Roque A. Tiu; second
district board members Anlee Apostol and Niccolo Villasin; and third
district board member Bernard Remandaban.
Voted as chairman of
the Committee on Rules, Laws and Privileges is Board Member Florante
Cayunda of the 5th District. He also chairs the Committee on Boundary
Disputes.
The Committee on
Finance and Appropriations was given to 1st District Board Member
Malou Go-soco. She also chairs the Committee on Cooperatives.
Chosen to chair the
Committee on Environment and Natural Resources is 1st District Board
Member Roque Tiu. He also chairs two other committees, the Committee
on Ways and Means and the Committee on Public Information.
Board Member from the
5th District Carlo Loreto chairs the Committee on Education and the SP
Blue Ribbon Committee.
Board Member Wilson Uy
chairs two important committees: the Committee on Infrastructure and
the Committee on Public Utilities.
Board Member Daya
chairs the Committee on Youth and Sports Development while Board
Member Margarita Cari chairs the Committee on Barangay Affairs.
The Committee on
Tourism, Trade and International Relations is chaired by Board Member
Niccolo Villasin who also chairs the Committee on Labor and
Employment.
The Committee on
Energy, Science and Technology is chaired by Board Member Anlee
Apostol who also chairs the Committee on ICT and New Media
Development.
The Committee on
Public Order and Protective Services was given to Board Member Rolando
Piamonte who also chairs the Committee on Human Rights.
The Committee on
Agriculture and the Committee on Senior Citizens are both under the
chairmanship of Board Member Antonio Jabilles.
The Committee on
Social Services and the Committee on Women, Children and Family
Welfare are both under the chairmanship of Board Member Deborah
