DOLE grants safety awards to four EV companies

TACLOBAN CITY  –  The Regional Director of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office 8 Atty. Forter G. Puguon was proud to disseminate that four companies in Eastern Visayas were among those who were given recognition by DOLE’s nationwide Safety Milestone (SMILE) Recognition Awards.

According to Labor Communications Officer Virgilio Doroja, Jr of DOLE, the announcement was made upon the return of Director Puguon from his travel to Manila to attend the 2011 SMILE Recognition Awards Ceremony, which was conducted last December 12, 2011.

It was bared that the four business establishments from Eastern Visayas who were among the companies nationwide that were given said recognition are the Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines Inc., Tacloban Plant; Petron Corporation Tacloban Depot; Petron Corporation Ormoc Depot; and the Petron Corporation Isabel Depot.

The SMILE Recognition is an incentive award which is given to a company that has achieved an excellent safety performance of having no lost time accidents for a particular period, Doroja said.

Further, Doroja informed that the program aims to motivate and encourage more companies to be steadfast in the implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) programs and activities thus facilitate compliance with the provisions of OSH standards which would result to a safe and healthful workplace.

Likewise, it was shared that DOLE through the Bureau of Working Conditions, headed by Director Brenda Villafuerte, has been continuously initiating activities and programs for an effective administration and enforcement of OSH standards.
