CALBAYOG CITY – The
Department of Public Works and Highways has completed another flood
control structure along Cagnipa River in Brgy. Cagnipa, this city.
It covers a 45-meter section of the river bank near the coast.
The flood mitigation
structure primarily serves to protect the lives and properties
located in the immediate vicinity of the river. Secondarily, it
prevents erosion of the river bank that may undermine the structural
integrity of the adjacent Cagnipa Bridge. Said bridge is part of the
national road (Daang Maharlika) network.
The project was allocated
P6.1 million from the General Appropriations Act (GAA) 2019.
