CAMP LUKBAN, Catbalogan
City – A former Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) couple who
recently surrendered to government forces received financial and
humanitarian assistance from the Municipal Task Force to End Local
Communist Armed Conflict (MTF-ELCAC) of Paranas, Samar, on August 5,
2026, marking another milestone in the government's continuing peace
and reintegration efforts.
Former rebels known
as alias Bigo and alias Aga, remnants of the dismantled Sub-Regional
Committee (SRC) Sesame of the Eastern Visayas Regional Party
Committee (EVRPC), were formally presented by the 63rd Infantry
Battalion and the 46th Infantry Battalion to the MTF-ELCAC. They
received P30,000 in financial assistance, grocery items, and a sack
of rice to support their transition back into mainstream society.
The local government also
committed to providing livelihood assistance, civil registration,
family reunification support, and other interventions aimed at
helping the couple rebuild their lives with dignity and stability.
The initiative
demonstrates that the government's commitment extends beyond
encouraging surrender. It ensures that former rebels are given
genuine opportunities to start over, support their families, and
become productive members of society. This demonstrates that there
is a better future beyond armed struggle. While the remnants of the
CTG continue to live in uncertainty, constantly evading security
forces and deprived of meaningful support, those who choose peace
gain access to government programs, legal protection, livelihood
opportunities, and the chance to reunite with their loved ones.
The 8th Infantry (Stormtroopers)
Division reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with local
government units and partner agencies in sustaining reintegration
efforts, emphasizing that every former rebel who returns to the fold
of the law weakens the insurgency and strengthens the cause of
lasting peace. As more former CTG members embrace reconciliation,
the path forward becomes increasingly clear: violence leads only to
hardship, while peace opens the door to hope, opportunity, and a
better future for every Filipino.
